As usual, the Department of Alaska can be proud. At the time of this article, we are in number 2 spot for membership. We only needed 239 to make our 100% goal, but try as we may, we just couldnt catch Vermont who is leading the pack. There is always next year. The National Convention
is fast approaching, August 22-28, this year in Phoenix, AZ and our own National Vice Commander Peggy Dettori will be going out of office then. Peggy has been a very excellent representative for the Department of Alaska, as well as our National Organization with her visits to Departments, Posts and other activities she attended. Thanks Perch for a great year.
In addition to the above, at the close of the National Convention, it will be official that our own PDC Jimmie Foster will be a candidate for National Commander, and if everything goes according to plans, should come in at the National Convention in Milwaukee, Aug 2010. Congratulations Jimmie.
Couple more reminders, if you havent completed the form for your $1,000.00 FREE AD&D insurance, your local Post should have these forms, if not you may go to our web-site and enroll. As you know, the Legionnaire is published every month on our web-site,if you would like you may elect to have your name taken off of the mailing list for the Legionnaire and take advantage of this service. Just let us know.
The Commander has commenced her visitations for this year. You may want to check with your Post to see when the Commander will be in your area, and stop by and say hello.
